Toxic Shark 2017 is a made for TV movie filmed in Puerto Rica in what appears to be the off tourist season. It’s been a decade since this movie was filmed and it is one of the defining movies of the golden decade of the silly shark ( 2010- 2020). Since then it has received a bit of  bad press for its supposed bad acting and vacuous dialogue. But this wasn’t my experience. By that time I had had a decade of silly shark movies behind me and will categorically state this is silly shark royalty. I just rewatched the Utube Hindi dubbed version of the movie because with this exception it has disappeared from all the current streaming services. Unhindered by dialogue I could see that the acting still does not look bad to me. Particularly with what followed in the 2020’s with the rise of the more independent movie productions. It is fair to state though that the situations used to get the cast back into the water after the generous amount of brutal yet entertaining shark attacks is a bit far fetched. I say that in full knowledge of the other great silly shark movies of this Golden Decade. I feel that if the critics had watched more silly shark movies they would have been less harsh. What this movie does well is in the blending of the CGI Shark with its watery environment and in addition it has a great bikini count. So if it’s all down to just the dialogue holding back this sharksploitation gem, then watch it on Utube in the mellifluous Hindi language dub. After all the hall mark of a good silly shark movie is only really in the comical and unlikely shark attacks along with the shark growl and a high bikini count.
