You Won’t See That On Shark Week. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Thrash 2026 is a Netflicks Movie from horror director and writer Tommy Wirkola. It’s hard to find anything new to do in sharksploitation but doing it differently is where this movie shines. It breathes new life into old tropes bringing new ways to chum the waters and then getting the protagonists back into those waters. Innovation doesn’t stop there either. We are treated to some impressive shark attacks that are quick and brutal. All this adds up to a tense experience that will keep you on the edge of the couch. The production team have taken there lessons from the sharksploitation greats and imbued their vision with something worthy of your time. Act1 bristles with a strong 1970’s disaster movie vibe derived from its plot and character development and in conveying the looming sense of dread. By Act 2 you are cheering when the bad guy characters get eaten and gritting your teeth when the heroes are up against it. Act 3 is deliberately predictable in its build up but is still very tense with a satisfying payoff for the time you have invested. Surprisingly for a modern essential Sharksploitation movie it’s not Australian!
