Lala’s moment to shine. ⭐️⭐️

Aatank 1996 is a multi genre Indian movie with a Shark in it. It also has a lot of singing and dancing,an awful lot. It’s notorious for having been in production for the longest time in Indian cinema. It was started in the eighties and not released until the late nineties. But it looks like it was made in the sixties. For Sharksploitation fans it has one of the most amazing B movie opening credits of any movie with a shark in it. The shark action unfortunately is only a very small part of the convoluted plot. Made more convoluted by my lack of understanding of both the Hindi language and its culture. The version I watched had less than eight minutes of shark attack action but they are well worth waiting ( or skipping to) for. Hats are definitely off to Lala who is credited with the special effects and they are fantastical. We are treated to a giant rubber shark who can only be described as a mini megalodon. The uniquely sculpted rubber shark fin is a treat that cleaves the water convincingly. No tension just a great spectacle where the waters are well and truely chummed. It has borrowed a lot from Jaws but you need to see this as a special effects oddity only. Viewed in this way will have smirking like you’ve never smirked before. Last thing to note, it has a  shark screech instead of the growl.

Lala’s special effects shine.
