Face Your Monsters ⭐️⭐️
Into The Deep 2024 is a movie with a Jaws star in it. That was enough, along with the trailer to get me to buy the dvd. This movie has finally pushed me to become an advocate of shifting the Oscar’s away from feature length movies towards 3 minute trailers for the grand prize. The editors of trailers are really in tune with what we want to see. Why bother with a costly full length feature. Expecting a modern audience to stay focused for a feature length movie is just a very big ask. With this case in point we wouldn’t have to absorb a functional yet lifeless dialog that only peaks in poignancy in the high stress moments. We wouldn’t have to get on side with generally unlikable protagonists. We wouldn’t have to deal with excessive flashbacks labouring the protagonists accumulated trauma. Show me don’t tell me, else it looks as if this whole thing is just a device to give a Jaws star a role. There are some great cinematic moments with the shark renderings both above and below. The sharks have been rendered hyper real and memorably menacing. The murky waters trope also works well to heighten tension. This is definitely a sharksplotation movie as we get a shark growl, two great whites exhibiting pack behaviour and a supersized close up shark encounter. Not out of place is the shark conservation message from a Jaws star in the closing credits. Although this also feels a tad laborious, unless of course you think this is deliberately ironic. You might as well wait for this celebrity messaging to turn up on Utube than sit through the movie. ohh, I forgot you also have the trailer.
