Give Them Enough Trope To Hang Themselves. ⭐

Mississippi River Sharks 2017 is a made for TV movie. I have seen so many made for TV monster movies that I thought a nice experiment would be to watch a new (to me) shark movie in a language I have no comprehension of. Plus, I can't find an English copy of this one currently. The idea was to see if I could spot the tropes without any clues from the dialogue. Turns out I can.  So here is the checklist.

1) CGI sharks done on the cheap.

2) Shark Hunter and media personality who is a fraud.

3) Blossoming romance.

4) An official that doesn't want an event closed down despite the rising body count.

5) Over intrusive news team.

6) Guns, lots of guns.

7) High body count.

However, this movie does have a few visual comedic tricks up its sleeve both in new ways of getting victims into the water and the attacks themselves. Both are quite entertaining in their unrealistic and cheesy way. You do notice more subliminal things with no dialogue, For instance news presenters wear way too much makeup and there is an inordinate number of men on the Mississippi that have beards and can speak Hindi.

This may have gotten an extra star if I understood the dialogue and it was engaging?

A Tad Exaggerated.
