Shark Zone 2003 is a direct to DVD movie that adds nothing to the genre. It is a derivative of the movies that were rip offs of better shark movies. For example, it seems in part a copy of The Last Shark 1981 which was copying so many of the plot devices of Jaws. The protagonist's backstory is so harrowing that you just can't believe the job he finds himself taking up. This led to a total lack of engagement with the characters predicament as further events unfold. No amount of gratuitous shark growl can make up for poorly matched stock footage in the composite shark attack sequences. Nothing from the script or even visually is convincing. If you are still of a mind to watch a movie that’s ripping off another movie that’s ripping off Jaws, Do yourself a big favour and go watch Last shark or any of the Italian sharksploitation movies from the 80's or 90's. Because they do this sort of thing much better (I never thought I'd use those words in review) than this unnecessary entry.
