Shark Lake 2015 is billed as an action/thriller, and it certainly has this element. However it is only used as a vehicle for the action hero lead to throw his trade mark weight around. As for the thriller there is a decided lack of tension with the shark attacks and encounters that is not helped along by a bad repetitive soundtrack that just kills the mood. I know Jaws set the bar for ominous refrains, but we don't need one in every shark movie. Seems like all the good refrains were taken by the time this was made. The cast are proficient but unconvincing in their roles when interacting with the shark. Compare this to Red Water 2003 which is in a similar vein and see how much the soundtrack can help build tension. This movie might live up to being a good crime thriller, I couldn't say, but it does nothing for sharksploitation.
