Sharks Aren't Interested In Things That Don't Move. ⭐⭐⭐

Huge Shark 2021 (also known as Red Water) is a Youku production. So, you are guaranteed some gore mixed in with your wholesome core value messaging. There is a sense of the surreal in this production where western Sharksploitation tropes and ideas abound, but Chinese sensibility dominates. Seems the writers were also fans of Australian shark cinema as they are overtly channeling the movie Great White 2021 for its boat scenes and The Shallows for its shark circling a rock scene. On its own merits the CGI shark should get an award for tenacity, its relentless, so tension is high throughout. Now this may just be my aesthetic, but the shark is high definition in its coloration and delineation making it look meaner than most CGI representations to date. So, lots here for sharksploitation fans and though you are better served by the movies this one tries to emulate, you have got to love the ending.

I watched this on Utube and it seems the original soundtrack has been altered as it is patchy at best. It may be due to copyright issues as I have heard this before with other Chinese monster movies on streaming services. Overall, not a huge detraction.
