Worst Family Holiday Ever. ⭐

Black Demon 2023 is the first of the Megalodon movies released this year. Here in Australia, it was scheduled for a theatrical release in July. However, it ended up as a DVD only release. Does this mean that there is only room for one Megalodon theatrical movie release per annum.

I guess it was only a matter of time before we got the full environmental destruction and corporate corruption message from a sharksploitation movie and this one leans in heavy with it. Other shark movies have made it a convenient plot device, Red Water and Shark Swarm comes to mind, but not to Black Demons extent. Wrapping the plot in a supernatural environmental vengeance outing I think detracts from any power the environmental message had. Tension ramps up initially and the cast are suitably traumatised but this died away pretty soon. We have then a creature who is promoted in being of godlike proportions and possessing a Godzilla like sense for environmental concern. But murky underwater scenes detract a lot from the antagonist's minimal presence. Disappointing as I like to clearly see and get up front and personal with my antagonists eventually.

Murky Marauding Murderer.
