Open Water ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Open Water pays out emotionally. The Dialogue is a winner, it starts off with the mundane chatter of a couple slightly out of sync then turns into a bitter incriminating fight before turning into hysterics. A well-handled plot that is dialogue driven for what is essentially a couple bobbing in the water for most of the movie. This bobbing is enhanced by a naturalistic soundtrack that puts you subconsciously in the lapping water with them but is a bit noticeable for the land sequence. Taking the naturalistic thing one step further the sharks are real, the actors are up close and personal with what looks like black tip reef sharks. As in The Reef, the water level photography heightens the fear. It takes a bit to engage with the protagonists, but this comes when the full horror of the situation plays out before you.
