A Movie With Depth ⭐⭐⭐⭐

The Shallows 2016 Is not Jaws, so it’s a B-movie, well not really. At its core The Shallows is a straight hunter versus hunted story. But it’s much more than its premise. The movie's early subtext paints the protagonist as a strong independent spirited person. Her struggle to survive is both compelling and engaging. The shark behaves as expected, circling for the kill. But as in most shark movies it's not about the Shark it's about the protagonists and their ability to adapt and survive and you really back this person to survive. She goes at it with a will. I felt that strong primal fear that shark encounters provoke. The water level shots without the shark add to the suspense and you genuinely experience tension. Gripping stuff.
